Voorbij een redelijke twijfel
God only gives His Spirit to those
who keep His commandments
The one who belongs listens and responds to Yehovah's words. If you don't listen and respond,
it is because you don't belong to Yehovah." John 8:47

The 1,000-year period (often referred to as the Millennium or the Millennial Reign) is a major biblical era described in Revelation 20:1–7, immediately preceding the Great White Throne Judgment.
1. Biblical Overview (Revelation 20:1–7)
The Binding of the Adversary: At the beginning of the thousand years, Satan is bound with a great chain and cast into the Abyss, preventing him from deceiving the nations during this time (Rev 20:1–3).
The Reign of the Righteous: Those who remained faithful and did not worship the beast are raised in the "first resurrection" and reign in peace and justice for 1,000 years (Rev 20:4–6).
The Final Release and Rebellion: At the end of the thousand years, Satan is released from prison for a short time. He deceives nations across the earth (Gog and Magog) to gather for battle against the beloved city. Fire comes down from heaven and consumes the rebellion, and the adversary is cast into the lake of fire permanently (Rev 20:7–10).
Transition to the White Throne: Immediately following this final rebellion, the earth and heavens flee away, and the Great White Throne Judgment takes place (Rev 20:11–15).
2. Key Theological Interpretations
Christian theology views the timing and nature of the 1,000 years in three primary ways:
Summary of the Timeline Order (Revelation 19–21)
Defeat of evil powers and the binding of Satan.
The 1,000-Year Era (Peace, righteousness, and restoration).
The brief release and final defeat of the rebellion.
The Great White Throne Judgment (Final accounting of all the dead).
The New Heavens and New Earth (The eternal state of complete renewal).
An angel descended from heaven, carrying the key to the bottomless Abyss and a great iron chain in his hand. With unyielding authority, he seized the ancient adversary—the dragon who had deceived the nations of the earth—bound him fast, and hurled him deep into the dark depths. The abyss was shut and sealed over him, bringing an abrupt, profound stillness to a weary world. For ten centuries, the ancient deception was broken.
Then came the dawn of the thousand years.
Across the globe, the earth breathed a collective sigh of relief. Those who had remained steadfast through trials and stood firm against tyranny were raised in the first resurrection. Throned in righteousness, they governed the lands not with force or corruption, but with wisdom, equity, and unwavering justice.
For ten long centuries, human history experienced an era unlike any before it:
The Silence of War: Weapons of destruction were beaten into tools of harvest. The noise of battle and the schemes of tyrants faded from living memory.
The Flourishing of Creation: Nations walked in tranquility, the soil yielded its abundance, and generations lived under a canopy of unshadowed peace.
Unbroken Truth: Without the tempter's whispers, truth and harmony prevailed from coast to coast.
Yet, prophecy had marked the boundary of the age.
When the thousand years reached their fullness, the seal upon the Abyss was broken. The adversary was released from his prison for a brief season. Crawling out into the light, he set forth once more to test the hearts of humanity, whispering old lies to the four corners of the earth—gathering a vast multitude from Gog and Magog, their numbers like the sand on the seashore.
They marched across the breadth of the land, surrounding the camp of the righteous and the beloved city, preparing for one final, desperate siege.
There was no prolonged war. Before a single blow could be struck, fire descended from the heavens like a blinding sheet of lightning, consuming the rebellion in an instant. The adversary was seized and cast forever into the lake of fire, his power permanently extinguished, never to rise or deceive again.
The long ages of mortal history were now complete. The ground beneath trembled, the skies began to roll away, and the universe stood poised on the threshold of the Great White Throne.
